Thorough professional training has always been an important part of SSI’s success. Candidates for positions in our security services subsidiary must complete 34 hours of classroom training prior to assignment to any client site. This requirement applies to every new officer we hire, no matter how lengthy their prior experience, because we want to ensure that every SSI officer has the same knowledge and understanding of how to perform security assignments.
This issue is so important that we created a training subsidiary (SSI Education and Training services) so that our own extraordinarily high standards could be taught, and SSI personnel could test the prospective officer’s knowledge. In addition, our training department located at SSI’s corporate headquarters, is Co- headed by a long term Corporate Security Industry Veteran, with 20 years working experience with Comsat /Lockheed Martin Corporation, now owned by Lockheed Martin, where she recently retired as Manager of the Security Department. SSI also conducts training of our clients at their site to help create a healthy working atmosphere.
Pre-Assignment Officer Training
The basic officer training program at client site is, in fact, a very comprehensive one that far exceeds local requirements. Public Relations skills and cultural diversity awareness receive special attention. We place great importance on ensuring that our security officers handle situations properly and in a diplomatic and respectful manner.
Training consists of classroom instructions, practical applications, role playing, and a challenging examination. Each SSI Security candidate also receives Red Cross accredited training and must become certified in CPR and First Aid. We believe that our rigorous training requirement enhances our officers’ performance and allows us to maintain our high standards.
